Daymark Recovery Services Review
The adolescent treatment program through Daymark Recovery Services is available in several of their outpatient treatment facilities throughout North Carolina. The adolescent track is for young people who are struggling with a developmental disability or behavioral health concerns that disrupt their ability to attend their community schools. Adolescent treatment services can include psychiatric evaluations and treatment, emergency services, counseling for clients and their families, and continued education. The goal is for clients to improve their communication skills and function within 18 months.
In addition to the intensive day program for adolescents, there are also a in-home treatment services. They are a workable alternative to an inpatient program or removal from their current living situation.
Treatment and Staff
The adolescent program is for clients between the ages of six and 18. Treatment services include mental health care and addiction help, along with stabilization, and life and coping skills. The day program operates no less than four days per week for three hours at a time. This is a year round program. During the school year it is in effect every day that school is in session.
Daymark Recovery Services works in collaboration with each client’s individual school in order to create a personalized treatment plan. Each of the treatment facilities around the state have the adolescent program in a separate building or classroom, away from the adult program, so they can solely concentrate on themselves and their education.
The in-home program is available every day of the year and at all hours. The purpose of this service is to lessen the frequency crisis episodes, reduce any symptoms that are associated with mental illness or substance abuse, and improve the client’s coping skills.
The adolescent programs use evidence-based treatment methods that are person centered. Family involvement is a very important element to these programs. There is a set limit to the amount of time that these services are available, however, as the idea is to avoid the possibility of the client needing to be removed from their home. Daymark can offer these services in a number of settings, including schools, detention centers, shelters, libraries and public spaces.
Along with the face to face help from a therapist, Daymark provides a number of community based services and case management assistance. Common approaches during the adolescent sessions are CBT based, play therapy, art therapy and mindfulness.
The staff includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, LPCs, LCSWs, human services technicians, and peer support specialists.

Finally, family therapy and education is available throughout the adolescent program.

As with the other programs at Daymark, the focus is the client and not their disorder. The adolescent program is very specialized and requires specific attention to the clients very particular needs. Above all, this holistic approach is designed to renew their self esteem and empower them to recover.
