Dallas Challenge Review
Since 1984, Dallas Challenge has been providing youth in Dallas with outpatient substance abuse treatment along with alcohol and drug prevention programs. The outpatient program aims to provide education and treatment to teenagers dealing with addiction, regardless of their ability to pay. The program is offered at a state-certified facility.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient substance abuse program at Dallas Challenge is located in Medical City Dallas Hospital and offered to teens between the ages of 13 and 17. Each client undergoes a chemical assessment to determine the proper level of treatment. Those in treatment have the option to work with a case manager.
The program accommodates teens serves clients with delinquency and academic issues, gang affiliations and unstable family dynamics. Individual therapy and family therapy are arranged according to each client’s assessment. The length of each program also varies depending on each client’s needs. There is also a weekly one-hour group therapy.
The counselors at Dallas Challenge use a traditional form of talk therapy, and most of the counseling sessions are geared toward educating clients on how to make mature decisions.
Extras
There is a strong emphasis on educating adolescents who have criminal offenses about the repercussions of their actions. Additionally, the program also has an interest in teaching prevention tools. For this reason, it has established an education services department with programs on drug education, prevention and intervention.
