Located about 45 miles north of El Paso in the city of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Counseling Las Cruces (CLC) is the private practice of licensed clinical counselor Douglas Layer. Situated on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert, Counseling Las Cruces provides a confidential, supportive and comfortable atmosphere where clients can feel free to open up about anything bothering them. CLC offers comprehensive outpatient counseling services for clients ages 16 and older struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders and surface addictions, as well as co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety and trauma.

Layer also employs evidence-based therapies like CBT and EMDR to treat past trauma as a causal component of current conditions. In addition, Layer also offers educational seminars and on communication and relationship workshops as well as LGBT issues.
As previously mentioned, Counseling Las Cruces is the private practice of Douglas Layer. Layer is a Master’s-level clinical counselor and certified clinical trauma professional. He is not a physician and cannot offer medication management for clients with co-occurring disorders.

In addition to one-on-one therapy, Douglas Layer provides comprehensive, effective couples counseling for an array of issues including infidelity, communication and divorce. CLC also offers therapy for families.
