Comprehensive Community Care, Inc. in Durham, North Carolina sits in the shadow of Duke University and offers a range of treatment options for chemical dependency and co-occurring mental and behavioral health issues. Operating primarily on referrals from Alliance Behavioral Healthcare, Community Care offers residential group homes and well as outpatient day programs.
Treatment and Staff
New clients begin by undergoing an initial assessment to determine the best course for treatment resulting in most attending individual and group therapy on a weekly basis. Family and couples therapy is also available as needed. Though group housing is available through Alliance, all treatment is administered on an outpatient basis so all clients attend groups together, whether they are living at home or at one of the residential facilities. Therapy focuses on a variety of addiction-related issues such as grief, depression, stress and anxiety.
While not a 12-step focused program, clients struggling with substance abuse are welcome to attend outside AA/NA meetings and a directory of local meeting times and locations is available. For clients battling opiate addiction, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MET) in the form of Suboxone is also offered.
The staff at Community Care is comprised of licensed psychiatrists and other trained medical personnel. It should be noted that while the website lists an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for substance abuse, facility personnel confirm that it currently does not provide services beyond a basic outpatient track.
Community Care also provides services to the developmentally disabled.
Comprehensive Community Care, Inc. is a traditional treatment program catering to clients who struggle with alcoholism, drug addiction and mental heath. Understanding that these issues are often co-occurring, its programs approach treatment from a psycho-therapeutic angle rather than more evidence-based, addiction-focused methods offered at some other rehab facilities. Community Care lives up to its name by accepting medicaid and state insurance, making treatment available to all income-levels. In all, Comprehensive Community Care, Inc. is a solid choice for self-motivated treatment at an affordable price.
