vancouver washingtonColumbia River Mental Health Services Review

Columbia River Mental Health Services is an outpatient facility located just outside Portland in Vancouver, Washington. Treatment options include Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), treatment for co-occurring disorders and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) which includes group and individual therapy for adult men and women.

Treatment and Staff

The individualized programs at Columbia are tailored specifically to each client’s needs. Before treatment can begin, clients take an in-person assessment that takes about an hour. Depending on the individual, those participating can attend between one and three therapy sessions per week which are a combination of group and individual therapy. The IOP requires clients to attend three one-on-one sessions per week and evening groups depending on clients’ schedules. Columbia also provides a maintenance program for those receiving MAT for opiate addiction, offering daily doses of methadone along with counseling services.

Group sessions last for two hours at a time, with both co-ed and men’s only groups available. Co-ed sessions usually max out at 15 clients while gender-specific sessions generally host between six and eight. Because all programs are geared towards individual needs, there is no set duration for treatment. Still, most clients generally remain in the program for six months to a year.

Programs utilize evidence-based therapy with methods like CBT and EMDR. Treatment focuses on teaching clients relapse prevention techniques, coping skills and behavioral modification.

The staff at Columbia River Mental Health Services consists of a highly experienced clinical team including Master’s-level LCSWs, RNs, LPNs, LCDCs, caseworkers, LPCs and medical doctors.

Extras

Columbia River Mental Health Services meets state requirements for clients who are court-ordered to attend treatment for drug and alcohol abuse as well. There are counseling services offered to adolescents including MAT and educational sessions, as well as specialty groups for young adults between the ages of 18 to 25. The facility also offers couples and family counseling.

In Summary

Overall, Columbia River Mental Health Services substance abuse recovery programs place a major emphasis on the individual. While more intensive treatment programs are not available, the facility does provide support for co-occurring disorders from a wide-ranging staff of qualified professionals. In all, Columbia River Mental Health Services is ideal for those seeking flexibility and traditional therapeutic methods of treatment.
