CleanSlate Massachusetts Review

The nation-wide treatment organization CleanSlate has 15 locations throughout Massachusetts. CleanSlate specializes in the care of clients struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders, specifically opioids like oxycontin, fentanyl and heroin. The facility provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and a range of supplemental evidence-based therapies and psychoeducation. In addition, CleanSlate works with community partners to help clients transition back into regular life. Clients are referred to area 12-step support groups and sober housing.

Treatment and Staff

CleanSlate employs a bio-psycho-social model of care that offers client-centered treatment customized to meet the specific needs, goals and circumstances of the individual. During intake, individuals undergo a comprehensive assessment that helps the team design the most effective treatment plan.

The facility specializes in MAT specifically Suboxone, Zubsolv and Vivitrol as well as Subutex for pregnant clients. They use Suboxone to simultaneously block cravings and mitigate painful withdrawal symptoms, enabling clients to focus on their recovery. Following detox, CleanSlate utilizes Vivitrol for relapse prevention. The monthly injection binds to the brain’s receptors, nullifying the effects of opioids.

While Suboxone and Vivitrol are cornerstones of the programming, CleanSlate provides “whole client” treatment that doesn’t begin and end with medication. As a chronic brain disease, this level of addiction is treated with an integrative approach that includes evidence-based therapies, case management, psychoeducation and relapse prevention. In order to help monitor behavior, clinicians root individual and group sessions in CBT and DBT. Clients learn the science behind addiction as a brain disease. And, therapists educate individuals on relapse prevention.

The CleanSlate team employs therapists, clinicians and a nursing team. While a major component of treatment is the monitoring of Suboxone and Vivitrol, the facility does not specialize in clients with co-occurring disorders so there is no medication management for psychiatric issues. However, the can refer clients to a partnering physician that can help.

Extras

CleanSlate locations in Massachusetts are in comfortable offices. The team sees clients on both an appointment and walk-in basis.
