Child Guidance Center Review
Child Guidance Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations to provide health and social services to children and adolescents in Lincoln, Nebraska. CGC’s specialized outpatient substance abuse treatment and prevention program—known as Choices—is tailored for high school students struggling with substance abuse and addiction.
Treatment and Staff
Choices is intended for high school students who have been identified as having an issue related to substance abuse either through their peers or parents. Clients are assessed prior to enrollment to determine an individualized treatment plan. Treatment consists of individual and group therapy, both utilizing CBT methodology. Two-hour groups are scheduled Monday through Friday after school hours and one-on-one sessions are scheduled independently—typically once a week. CGC also has a strong referral system for those seeking additional treatment including community 12-step programs to help sustain long-term recovery.
CGC staff consists of psychologists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), LICSWs and LPCs.
Extras
In addition to Choices, CGC also offers several other services and programs to both clients and the broader Lincoln community. An extended day treatment program, a school program, services for sexual misconduct, residential services a youth-in-crisis program and a youth assessment program are all available.
