CEPTA, Inc. is a private non-profit counseling facility in Norcross, Georgia. Treating individuals with substance abuse and mental health issues, this outpatient program offers individualized care in both English and Spanish. Services include assessments as well as individual, group and family counseling. Treatment uses both the 12 steps and evidence based therapies, with a team of bilingual, bi-cultural behavioral health clinicians.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, each client must undergo an initial assessment. In addition to treatment for substance abuse, support for co-occurring issues is also offered. Referrals for detox and residential treatment are available upon request.
Individual sessions are typically an hour long and create a space for privacy and one-on-one attention. With the help of their therapist, clients can address the underlying causes behind their issues. Topics such as coping skills and relapse prevention are covered, as well as mental health when necessary. Through the use of CBT, clients learn to challenge and change their negative thoughts. Clients are also introduced to the 12-steps, and while this is not a required part of the program, all clients are encouraged to attend meetings and get a sponsor.
Group therapy is also an important part of substance abuse recovery. The minimum length of time spent in treatment is 12 weeks, though clients can sometimes stay in the program for up to 18 weeks. These one and a half hour sessions cover topics such as stress management, education and communication. Treatment is split into two levels, with clients attending anywhere from one to three times a week.
The staff consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, LPCs and LCSWs. For those in need of medication for mental health issues, a psychiatrist is available. Group sizes range from 10 to 15 clients at a time.
Extras
For those who wish to involve their partners or family members in treatment, couples and family sessions are also available. The facility offers a family group that meets on a weekly basis which introduces loved ones to substance abuse education, coping skills and healthy boundaries. Family members of all ages are welcome to participate.

CEPTA, Inc. offers a variety of basic outpatient treatment services for substance abuse. Using evidence-based therapies and introducing the 12 steps, clients are given the basic tools needed for a sober lifestyle. Although those requiring an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or residential care may need to seek help elsewhere, CEPTA is a good choice for looking for an introduction to sobriety that includes the whole family system.
