Carlo A. Borea is a therapist originally from Miami, now operating private practices in New York. He provides individual and couples therapy, and specializes in sex therapy along with several other mental health disorders. Borea offers support and guidance by providing alternative strategies to address past traumas or unresolved issues in a caring and safe environment. Treatment and Staff
Borea’s therapy services are for a number of behavioral health concerns, though sex therapy is one of the main components of his practice. Individual therapy typically run about 50 minutes, and couples counseling lasts an hour. Treatment is personalized and there is no set amount of time that clients are required to remain in therapy, though depending on need, usually treatment can be expected to last anywhere from eight to 20 sessions. Individual therapy can focus on a number of issues including depression, anxiety, agoraphobia and OCD. During treatment individual clients explore addressing their feelings through thoughts and images and learn how to shift and focus their energy on discovering healthy and meaningful experiences. Couples treatment addresses emotional connection and works to improve communication and begin to develop ways to be more in the moment within a partnership.
Borea uses a variety of treatment approaches, including CBT, DBT, along with integrative methods and mindfulness. He applies different modalities depending in the client’s specific needs and has a real world approach during treatment. Additionally, during couples therapy Carlo may utilize more experitual and expressive treatment.
Carlo is an LMHC with extensive experience working with all types of clients in different settings, and has a background working exclusively with the Latino population in Miami’s only inpatient treatment facility that is Spanish speaking only. In addition to sexual dysfunction and couples treatments, he is also well versed in chronic mental health disorders, like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
