Parkland Place Overview
The Parkland Place branch of CAIS (a network offering treatment facilities across the UK), is a comprehensive residential treatment program. It offers privacy, luxury and individualized programming in Northern Wales. Treatment is comprised of evidence-based therapeutic, group and individual therapy, as well as a series of life and coping skills. Parkland Place is a typical second step in treatment for those who have gone through the detox process at CAIS’ Hafan Wen location.
Accommodations and Food
During treatment clients reside in a 16 bed mansion that sits on the National Trust farmland, which is close to the coast of North Wales. The campus sits on just over three acres of land that is private and serene.
Each client is treated to their own bedroom with en suite bathrooms and large shuttered windows overlooking the beautiful landscape. There are three styles of bedrooms that are deluxe, superior and standard that offer different features such as complimentary toiletries, in-room tea and coffee, and extra seating areas. Every bedroom is fully furnished and comes with an LED TV.
Parkland Place has several communal areas. There are two very spacious lounges that double as group work spots along with being a place for evening entertainment. The dining room has a coffee shop feel while the library is a quiet space where clients can read, work or relax.
The two on-site chefs prepare fresh and organic meals daily, and are able to accommodate allergies or restrictions.
Treatment and Staff
At the initial assessment, clients have a medical and psychological work-up to establish where they are in their recovery and identify their specific needs. The program model is caring and non-clinical. Throughout treatment, clients begin to unearth what may have led to their need to abuse drugs and alcohol.
Treatment uses evidence-based models including CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy and person-centered methods. There are several group sessions daily and weekly individual therapy. Clients focus on learning what their triggers are, relapse prevention techniques, improving communications and enhancing their lives through meditation and mindfulness.
These programs are not based on the 12 steps, though clients are not discouraged from seeking out additional forms of support. CAIS Parkland Place offers resources to community meetings or local fellowships. On average, clients are in this program for four weeks, though the length of stay depends on their needs.
The treatment team consists of psychotherapists who are addiction specialists, and residential techs.
Extras
There are weekly outings for the residential clients where they explore the countryside of North Wales.
