Blueprints for Addiction Recovery Review

Based in Pennsylvania’s Lancaster County, Blueprints for Addiction Recovery offers substance abuse evaluations, along with a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) rooted in evidence-based and holistic treatment approaches. Programming includes psychoeducation, relapse prevention, group and individual therapy and family counseling services. Blueprints not only offers treatment through its own facility but is also able to coordinate care for different or more intensive services, as it works with a number of reputable behavioral health facilities throughout the country.

Treatment and Staff

Before receiving treatment individuals meet in person with an addiction counselor who performs an in-depth evaluation to determine what level of care is needed. In some cases, clients are chosen to participate in the PHP or IOP, instead of entering an inpatient program. However, for those who need detox, residential services or dual diagnosis support, the staff is able to arrange proper care and walk them through the first stages of treatment.

Once the client is admitted to the outpatient program at Blueprints they usually begin with the PHP. This is a five day a week program that runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2:30 pm. The PHP is highly structured and includes a full day of therapy along with education, experiential therapies and activities. There are several group sessions on a daily basis along with a number of individual meetings. The clients address relapse prevention and triggers, and learn how to use coping skills after they leave treatment.

The IOP is a common step-down program with a minimum of three treatment days per week. The IOP is mainly group therapy based with clients using their newly learned skills from the PHP while getting back into school or work. In many cases these clients are also living in a sober living transitional house.

Treatment uses CBT and DBT and teaches life skills. Though programming is not based in the 12 steps, clients are often encouraged to attend regular AA/NA meetings and get a sponsor as an added support network. Clients have objectives throughout the weeks to focus on and the groups are kept fairly small in number, between eight and 10 clients per group, in order to offer personalized care.

Treatment is facilitated by a staff of CASCs, LPCs and LMFTs.

Extras

There is an aftercare program referred to as the Recovery Ecosystem through Blueprints. It includes group therapy, educational services and family therapy. Transportation is also available for those in the PHP.

In Summary

Blueprints for Addiction Recovery offers unique services in the sense that it is not just trying to get clients into its own program, but rather connecting them to the right treatment for them, regardless of the location. It works with several other agencies and is able to learn about who the potential client is and make an informed decision as to where he or she would best fit. At the same time, it offers comprehensive programming for clients who are struggling with substance abuse along with education and extended support aftercare.
