Behavioral Crossroads Recovery Review
Behavioral Crossroads Recovery is an outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment facility. Founded in 2004, in Atlantic County, New Jersey, it now operates two facilities, in Egg Harbor Township, a few miles from Atlantic City and Washington Township, near Philadelphia, that serve clients from the eight surrounding counties.
Treatment and Staff
Behavioral Crossroads Recovery offers four substance abuse services—outpatient medical detox, Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP), outpatient treatment, and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Outpatient detox is a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program designed for those who want to detox very discreetly or without missing work. Clients are assessed and prescribed medication to ease their withdrawal symptoms. The medical detox period in this program is typically around five days, although longer-term Suboxone or Vivitrol medication management is available, as well. The cost is about $400.
The substance abuse PHP consists of five-hour sessions, five days a week, for a total of 20 to 30 hours. It is a structured program designed for those who need a high level of support and supervision, but want to live at home rather than go to an inpatient program. IOP is approximately 10 hours a week, generally including three three-hour group sessions as well as one hour-long individual session. General outpatient sessions are one to three hours per week.
All programs include assessments for drug and alcohol abuse and mental health, medication management, if necessary, group and individual therapy. Group topics include post-acute withdrawal syndrome, tools for relapse prevention, and understanding addiction as a disease. Therapeutic methods combine a 12-step approach with the Stages of Change model.
The staff includes a psychiatrist, three psychiatric nurses, addictions counselors and social workers. All employees are licensed by the State of New Jersey or supervised by licensed staff. They also offer internship opportunities to students at local universities and colleges.
Extras
Behavioral Crossroads Recovery offers a mental health PHP, as well as mental health prescription and pain medication management. Treatment is available for those who struggle with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
All clients in the daytime IOP and PHP programs get free hot catered lunches. Also, Behavioral Crossroads Recovery provides door-to-door van transportation to individuals who live in Atlantic County and the surrounding areas, and will also help to arrange transportation for clients who live in other communities. Spanish-language services are available.
