Beacon Family Wellness Center Review
Beacon Family Wellness Center (BFWC) is an alcohol and drug abuse outpatient treatment program that is funded by the town of Babylon for Babylon, New York residents. With a goal to provide comprehensive, affordable and accessible chemical dependency treatment, the program also provides referrals, education, counseling and a wide range of programs that support each client’s recovery. Both a basic outpatient track and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) program are available to all ages, including adolescents.
Treatment and Staff
BFWC is located on Long Island, New York in the town of Babylon, and treatment is accessible only to Babylon residents. Counselors help create an individualized outpatient or IOP track for each client, with specific goals and rules set to meet their unique recovery needs. Treatment includes individual and group therapy counseling education, family therapy, DWI assessments and psychiatric evaluations and treatment as well as relapse prevention. They’re open from 9 am to 9 pm, Monday through Friday.
BFWC employs 10 counselors including LCSWs, mental health professionals, accredited alcohol and drug counselors, psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychiatrists. Dual diagnosis support is available for clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders. While BFWC does not offer detox and treatment is note 12-step based, clients are encouraged to attend community meetings to bolster their recovery and to develop a sober network.
Extras
BFWC embraces diversity and is accessible to all, including survivors of sexual abuse or intimate partner violence, LBGT clients, persons with HIV/AIDS, pregnant/postpartum women, survivors of trauma, veterans, referrals from the court system and adolescents. A wide range of services are also available for family members who have been impacted by their loved one’s addiction, including a free four-week education series. Treatment is available in both English and Spanish.
BFWC also offers prevention programs to the community, including a program called Gang Prevention and Intervention for Our Youth.
