Ashwood Recovery at NorthPoint Review
A division of NorthPoint Recovery, Ashwood Recovery in Boise, Idaho, is a treatment facility that offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), standard outpatient treatment, and co-occurring services for adolescents and adults. The programs utilize an evidence-based approach that combines elements of the 12-step philosophy and CBT methods.
Treatment and Staff
The first step in receiving treatment at Ashwood is an industry standard assessment to determine the level of care needed, or if a co-occurring disorder has not yet been diagnosed. Every treatment program is individualized to the client and includes individual and group therapy. The IOP is three evenings a week for three hours each, resulting in nine hours total per week for about 12 weeks in a group setting. The standard outpatient track entails one night a week, also in group therapy. Though most of the programs are based around a group therapy model, all clients typically participate in one weekly individual therapy session in addition to their regular session schedule. Group therapy sessions are fairly small in number, usually between four and 10 clients at a time, and are a mix of men and women.
The evidence based therapies provided at Ashwood, which include the 12-steps, CBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and experiential therapy models are specially assigned to specific clients in order to treat their personal situation. For clients with a dual diagnosis, there are referrals for medication management services, as well as more intensive treatment options, like detox or residential treatment. Though Ashwood doesn’t have a residential option, the staff is more than happy to recommend clients to local agencies that provide that kind of program.
The staff at Ashwood includes CEO and founder, Benjamin Seymour, who is also a CADC, a medical director, LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, peer advocates for adolescent clients and a yoga instructor.
Extras
In addition to drug and alcohol programming, there are also group’s focuses on relapse prevention, eating disorders, and gambling.
There is a weekly family program that meets for evening groups where loved ones of clients can get together for counseling services, and for parents of adolescent clients participation in their treatment is mandatory. There are also weekly UA’s performed at the facility.
