AscendA Sober Living Review
Located a short drive from downtown Spokane, AscendA is a non-profit treatment organization that provides affordable sober living accommodations for clients in the beginning stages of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. AscendA not only provides a safe and supportive environment, the facility seeks to help residents rebuild their lives. The facility welcomes men and women as well as families to stay in their own private apartment. While AscendA does not provide medication management for residents with mental health conditions, referrals can be made to treatment programs. The 12-step recovery plan is an integral aspect of the AscendA experience.
Accommodations and Amenities
AscendA understands the need for both structure and freedom when it comes to the success of a sustainable recovery. To this end, residents stay in a completely furnished 330 square foot apartment that includes a bathroom. Units are equipped to accommodate single men or women as well as couples and families. While there is no phone in the apartment, all utilities are taken care of. Clients are encouraged to bring any furnishings or fixtures they like.
Rules and Regulations
While staying in their own apartment offers residents a great deal of autonomy, AscendA seeks to also provide the stability and routine of a real-life community. As such, the facility has a strict zero tolerance policy towards the use of alcohol and substances. All residents are required to adhere to an evening curfew and notify staff of guests before their stay. AscendA also administers regular, random urine tests which clients must pass in order to stay. These efforts are designed to maintain the safety of residents and to guide them towards a healthy, sober life.
AscendA also offers an array of resources typically seen in residential treatment. The facility provides extensive case management services as well as referrals. Case managers help clients develop a personalized continued support plan. Clients set achievable goals that help to sustain their recovery and improve their lives. The facility also provides assistance with employment and educational opportunities in addition to help with basic goods such as food. Residents benefit from onsite 12-step support meetings and participate in workshops that focus on finances, nutrition and parenting.
AscendA is a non-profit organization that is a credit to the community of Spokane, Washington. The facility offers a “real life” sober living experience where residents pay an affordable rate for a furnished apartment. In addition, clients can take advantage of a number of empowering programs. For anyone seeking a place to heal, strengthen and build, AscendA is an excellent option.
