Artesian Wellness and Recovery Center has been providing residential treatment in southeastern Florida since 2012. Located in the beachside city of Stuart, near Port St. Lucie, Artesian Wellness utilizes a holistic approach that incorporates evidence-based therapy as well as extensive IV amino acid therapy, which is believed to affect the neurotransmitters in the brain and facilitate early recovery.
Artesian Wellness was founded my Dr. Joan Collins, a naturopathic doctor and herbalist with several decades of experience in the recovery industries. In addition to its residential program, Artesian Wellness offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and operates several sober living facilities.
Accommodations and Food
Clients reside in one of several comfortable duplexes in a two-block area of a quiet residential part of Stuart. All residents have at least one roommate, and each residence has a full kitchen and living area with a TV. As part of their life skills training, residents are responsible for cooking their own meals and staff take clients grocery shopping at least once a week. Clients also have nutrition classes to help them create therapeutic meal plans.
Treatment and Staff
Artesian Wellness’ residential program is 28 days. Clients have group therapy each day, usually from 9 am to 12 pm and then from 1 to 4 pm. They also have individual therapy at least once a week. Group therapy is led by MFTs and addiction counselors who use CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients set goals, create boundaries and learn relapse prevention skills. The treatment team also includes behavioral health technicians, nurses and a consulting psychiatrist for clients in need of dual diagnosis support.
Throughout the week, clients also have auricular therapy, neurofeedback and IV amino acid therapy, the foundational treatment of Artesian Wellness. Clients report that amino acid therapy improves their sense of well-being, enabling them to more effectively obtain the motivation often necessary in the early stages of recovery.
Clients are transported to local 12-step meetings in the area every evening.
Artesian Wellness incorporates experiential therapy, including art therapy and yoga. Residents have memberships at a nearby LA Fitness and are transported there for exercise several afternoons each week. In the final weeks of treatment, clients can earn passes to visit family overnight. Artesian Wellness also takes clients on weekend excursions such as beach trips and to play paint ball.
Once they’ve completed the 28-day program, clients can transition to the IOP for a continued eight weeks of treatment and then to sober living. Artesian Wellness also has an alumni program that hosts social events for its graduates.
Artesian Wellness and Recovery Center provides residential treatment with nutritional components, exercise and amino acid therapy designed to help clients feel better and create a healthier relationship to their body in early recovery. With multiple aftercare options and alumni program, men and women who seek help here have several effective methods to build on the foundation set in their first month of treatment.
