Anazao Community Partners Review
Anazao Community Partners—formerly known as Your Human Resources Center—is a private, non-profit organization focused on substance abuse and mental health treatment. Located in the suburbs of Akron, Ohio, this outpatient treatment facility serves adult and adolescent clients at three different facilities in Wooster, Millersburg and Orrville. Anazao derives meaning from Greek, meaning to live again or to be restored. Clients come to Anazao through self-referral, clinical referral and the criminal justice system. Anazao specializes in prevention services, with staff working with local schools and community organizations to implement prevention education for those suffering from substance abuse or mental illness.
Treatment and Staff
Anyone with a substance abuse disorder or co-occurring disorders is eligible for treatment at Anazao. However, those from Wayne and Holmes counties are the only clients eligible to pay on an sliding-fee scale based on income. Only self-referred clients pay the full fee for treatment. Though Anazao is not a 12-step based program, counselors do encourage clients to attend 12-step meetings off-site. The outpatient program follows an abstinence-only model, with individual, group and marital counseling available to those in both the mental health and substance abuse treatment tracks.
Upon arrival at Anazao, clients go through an initial intake assessment before working with counselors to develop individualized treatment plans. Based on the parameters of the client’s plan, he or she decides with a counselor whether to pursue individual counseling, group counseling or both for the duration of treatment. There is also a required substance abuse education group that clients attend for at least six weeks. If group counseling is part of a client’s individualized treatment plan, the client will also attend group counseling sessions once a week for six weeks.
Staff includes psychologists, chemical dependency counselors, social workers, prevention specialists, vocational specialists, mental health counselors and case managers. Anazao is certified by the State of Ohio and by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as a mental health facility and substance abuse treatment facility.
Extras
Anazao’s staff also lead a parenting group which is available at all three facilities. This is a psychoeducational group that clients don’t need an assessment to attend. This weekly group teaches clients parenting and coping skills, as well as how to process and work through family dynamics.
Finally, Anazao offers drug-screening services, including on-site urine testing with a 24 to 48 hour waiting period. Billing and testing reports are included in the service. Laboratories that are contracted with Anazao are CAP, CLIA and SAMHSA-certified.
