Alliance Counseling Associates Missouri Review
Alliance Counseling Associates (ACA) is a mental health agency with several locations across the state of Missouri—including Aurora, Branson, Cassville and Reeds Springs. Each branch offers outpatient care for addiction and substance abuse disorders. Treatment extends to court-ordered clients, families, couples, children and adolescents. The staff at ACA offer several types of outpatient counseling groups including specialty groups for adolescent issues and dual diagnosis support. ACA counseling primarily uses evidence-based practices and the 12-step principles are also integrated into treatment.
Treatment and Staff
ACA does not offer detox services. For substance abuse treatment, adults attend an average of three hours a week for either individual or group therapy, though there is no specified duration of treatment. Clients are given assessments and mental health evaluations upon intake to determine the intensity and frequency of counseling. Clients work with staff to develop individualized treatment plans prior to starting treatment. Adults take part in no more than nine hours of treatment each week while adolescents attend no more than six.
Therapy consists primarily of CBT for individual, family and group counseling. Several support groups are available to address anger management, co-occurring disorders, grief counseling, couples’ counseling, parenting skills and family counseling. Adolescents take part in the Taney County Minor Alcohol Awareness and Education program in conjunction with the Missouri school system. Clients attend Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT) psycho-educational groups as well.
The staff at ACA includes LPCs, CASACs and LCSWs. ACA is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health and is CARF-accredited.
Extras
Other services at ACA include the Missouri Sex Offender Program (MOSOP). Those who are currently incarcerated at the Farmington Correctional Center for men and the Women’s Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Vandalia can attend 12 months of counseling at ACA outpatient facilities. Many of these clients take part in substance abuse counseling. Finally, ACA allows employees the opportunity to train as addiction counselors in an outpatient clinical setting.
In Summary
Overall, Alliance Counseling Associates offers a traditional, no-frills outpatient program which applies both 12-step and evidence-based principles. For those who are willing to include their families in treatment, ACA’s flexible programs may be an option worth considering.
