Alliance Counseling Associates—Kentucky Review
Alliance Counseling Associates (ACA) is a mental health agency in South Central Kentucky with a holistic approach to addiction recovery. ACA offers substance abuse treatment and DUI services to clients at its Bowling Green and Glasgow facilities. Services for court-ordered clients include DUI assessments, outpatient groups and Prime for Life (PFL) alcohol and drug education groups. Clients participate in evidence-based practices through individual and group therapy. While 12-step groups are not available on-site at ACA, outpatient treatment is supplemented by alternative modalities including biofeedback, BETAR sound massage and yoga.
Treatment and Staff
Many clients at ACA are court-ordered to attend. For those clients, the staff conduct assessments to determine what outpatient service to recommend. Staff can also help clients fill out all necessary paperwork in accordance with state regulations once they’ve completed outpatient treatment. After the assessment process, clients attend either PFL, outpatient educational and therapeutic groups or individual therapy. Court-ordered clients and DUI offenders are also eligible to have their driver’s licenses reinstated after treatment is over and the proper paperwork has been filed with the court. Because of ACA’s welcoming environment, many court-ordered clients continue attending individual therapy or alternative treatment sessions even after completing the required portion of the program.
Self-referred clients complete a mental health or substance abuse assessment with staff, which costs $50. Once the assessor determines a given client’s needs, the staff helps the client develop an individualized treatment plan. ACA offers evidence-based therapies including CBT, trauma-informed care, play therapy, acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy and reality therapy. Holistic options include mindfulness meditation, yoga, biofeedback, Essential Oil Consultations and BETAR Sound Massage. There is no average length of treatment for outpatient clients. All treatment plans are highly-individualized, based on individual goals and needs.
Te staff includes MFTs, LPCs, LCSWs and case managers. There are 20 therapists in total. Two therapists on staff are MFTs, 12 are LPCs, two are case managers and four are LCSWs. Staff also include four support personnel and 11 case managers.
Extras
ACA offers Certified Mediation Services for conflict resolution. The goal of mediation is to reconcile arguments or conflicts without legal intervention. All outpatient services at ACA are licensed by the Kentucky Office of Inspector General and the Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
