Allenmore Psychological Associates, P.S. Review
Allenmore Psychological Associates of Western Washington has been providing the communities of Seattle, Olympia, Tacoma and Federal Way with mental health treatment services on an outpatient basis for over 30 years. Treatment offered includes individual therapy, medication management, and resources for the entire family. Allenmore utilizes evidence-based approaches to address behavioral health concerns associated with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders and more.
Treatment and Staff
The initial assessment happens over the phone with an intake specialist who asks some questions to determine which provider would be a good fit and from there the first appointment is scheduled. There is no set amount of time that clients are expected to be in treatment, and at any time clients can switch up their therapist. At the first session with the counselor, an individualized treatment plan is created to determine the frequency of sessions. A medical assessment for co-occurring conditions is available, as is medication management.
The therapists at Allenmore employ several different treatment tactics like CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT and EMDR. There are also options for hypnosis and psychodynamic methods. Children in therapy often have play therapy sessions, expressive therapy and are offered ways to be creative, like art therapy. The parents are an important element to treatment and are constantly part of the approaches and are consulted in terms of what approaches are utilized.
Allenmore clinicians are well versed in addiction and eating disorder concerns as well, and provide comprehensive programming to address these issues. Often times clients are introduced to the concept of what the disease of addiction really is and start to work on the root cause. The same approaches are used with eating disorder clients as well. There are a number of coping and living skills taught, along with relapse prevention techniques, learning how to effectively problem solve, stopping negative self talk and destructive patterns, and beginning to explore self esteem, relationship patterns, and dealing with emotional changes.
The staff of Allenmore is made up of Master’s-level therapists and medical personnel. They are LMFT, LMHC, ARNP, psychiatrists and psychologists.
Extras
Couples and family counseling can be facilitated, as well as career counseling. These programs help clients improve communication skills while learning how to deal with certain feelings, or help to navigate through stressful times, like a divorce or death in the family.
