Alicia Ayvas Review
With offices in Gainesville and Reston, Virginia, Alicia Ayvas is an LCSW and a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) who focuses on offering flexible support for clients struggling with eating disorders and related behavioral health issues. Ayvas holds a degree from Rutgers as well as a Master’s from Columbia University and now serves clients living primarily in Prince William and Fairfax counties. All treatment plans are outpatient-based.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, all clients go through an assessment process to help Ayvas and her team determine their treatment history and their needs. As an outpatient-based facility, medical detox services are not available. Once accepted, clients begin attending a combination of individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based treatment practices—primarily DBT. Basic dual diagnosis support is available for clients struggling with anxiety, depression and substance abuse, though anyone in need of more intensive psychiatric help may need to seek additional help elsewhere. The organization also holds weekly on-site 12-step meetings. All care plans are individualized and can be made to suit any number of schedules.
As a private practice, the staff at Alicia Ayvas consists primarily of Ayvas herself as well as several other Master’s-level LCSWs and CEDS.
Extras
Groups also focus on adolescent issues including self-harm, eating disorders and related issues. A number of special rotating groups are also available including those for adolescent girls, adults with anxiety, adolescents with anxiety and various life skills. Once clients complete primary care, they can work with the staff members to develop step-down aftercare and discharge plans as necessary.
