Adams Memorial Hospital Review
Adams Memorial Hospital opened in 1923 offering numerous medical and behavioral health services to the surrounding community of Decatur, Indiana. AMH’s substance abuse treatment program provides outpatient care and a short-term clinical detox program that uses evidence-based methods employed by a credentialed and knowledgeable staff.
Treatment and Staff
AMHBS offers two options for those seeking substance abuse treatment; short-term inpatient detox services that typically lasts a week and a basic outpatient track. The first three days of the program is dedicated to a medically supervised detox for clients requiring this service. The remaining days places clients in CBT based group therapy three times a day. There are 10 beds for detox clients, and each resident is given a private room and three meals a day.
Length of the basic outpatient treatment track is determined by an initial assessment and is subject to change depending on each individual’s progress. The program consists of at least 10 hours of treatment per week. Treatment consists of a one one-hour individual session and three three-hour group sessions per week. Treatment utilizes CBT methodology. The program does not include the 12 steps, however clients are strongly encouraged to participate in AA/NA meetings outside the scope of their basic treatment.
The staff at AMHBS consists of LCSWs, Master’s-Level social workers, LCACs, RNs and medical doctors.
