White Deer Run Pittsburgh provides outpatient substance abuse treatment in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. White Dear Run Pittsburgh is located in the South Side Flats section of the city, a few blocks from the Monongahea River. It has the most extensive outpatient programming in the White Deer Run network, offering treatment at the Partial-Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient program levels of care.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, clients are enrolled in the standard outpatient, IOP or PHP track. PHP clients attend group therapy Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 3:30 pm and have individual therapy twice a week. IOP clients attend group therapy at least three times each week. IOP groups are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 pm and on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 pm. Standard outpatient groups meet Tuesdays from 10 am to 12 pm and 1 to 3 pm, then again on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 pm. Standard outpatient clients attend group therapy once or twice a week. Clients enrolled in the IOP and standard outpatient tracks schedule one-on-one sessions as-needed.
Therapy groups use CBT and the 12-step framework and explore handling triggers, building a values system and relationship skills and are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings each week. Clients spend an average of 2 months on each treatment track and step down as they progress in their recovery.
The treatment team at the Pittsburgh facility consists of CADCs and Master’s-level therapists such as LPCs and LCSWs. A psychiatrist visits the facility every two weeks to consult on treatment plans for clients with co-occurring disorders. While counselors address mental health issues in sessions, clients are referred to nearby mental health clinics for more comprehensive dual diagnosis support.
Extras
White Deer Run Pittsburgh holds a family education night the third Wednesday of each month. It also offers classes for Pennsylvania’s Chemical Offenders Referral & Education (CORE) program.
