Acadia: Pinehurst Comprehensive Treatment Center Review
Pinehurst Comprehensive Treatment Center is located in Pinehurst, North Carolina, a golf resort town 50 miles west of Fort Bragg, in Southcentral North Carolina. Since 2008, Pinehurst CTC has provided outpatient Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addicts. It currently offers treatment using methadone, Subutex, Suboxone and Vivitrol. Pinehurst CTC also requires clients to attend group and individual therapy while in treatment. Pinehurst CTC is a member of the Acadia Treatment Network, an international mental and behavioral health group which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout the United States and United Kingdom.
Treatment and Staff
After clients are assessed, they and the treatment team decide which course of MAT best suits their unique recovery needs: methadone, Subutex or Suboxone. Most Suboxone clients begin treatment with Subutex (unless they’ve already undergone MAT using Suboxone at another facility). Methadone clients can apply for take-home doses after 90 days of successful treatment; Subutex and Suboxone clients can usually receive take-homes within the first month of treatment.
Clients must participate in group and/or individual therapy at least twice a month for the entire duration of their treatment. Therapy uses CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and groups address grief, relationships and health and wellness. There are also gender-specific groups available for both men and women. In addition, Pinehurst offers a group for pregnant clients.
Pinehurst CTC’s treatment team is made up of physicians, nurses and North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board-certified addiction counselors such as CSACs. Counselors address co-occurring disorders in individual and group therapy but refer clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support to nearby mental health clinics. Pinehurst CTC also encourages clients to attend peer support meetings such as NA and they host several facilitated 12-step meetings on-site each week.
Pinehurst CTC hopes that all clients will eventually not need MAT, and it works with them to create a treatment plan that culminates in tapering. However, clients are not pressured to taper on any set time-line.
Extras
Pinehurst CTC hosts a weekly family group for support and recovery education each Thursday. Vivitrol treatment is used to help addicts transitioning out of inpatient treatment.
