Treatment and Staff
Because of the wide range of ages that are treated at this facility, the groups are broken down by age. Some of the younger groups are co-ed, thought for the most part, the programs are gender specific. All clients receive several weeks of life skills classes in addition to therapeutic activities. This includes cooking classes, anger management, stress reduction, expressive therapies and medication management as an example.
These programs cater to clients as young as four up to 18 for the child and adolescent tracks, and over 60 for older adults. For younger clients, a typical day in the residential program may entail several group sessions, and a few hours of academic study at the on campus private school. Clients also receive recreational and work on setting achievable goals. The residential step of treatment at Lakeland depends on the client’s needs, while the inpatient level of care lasts until the clients feels stabilized.
Common approaches include CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, art and music therapy, activity therapy, and expressive arts therapy.
The multidisciplinary team of clinicians of this program includes medical doctors, nurses, LCSW, and educators.
Family therapy is included twice a week for some groups. There are visitation hours every day for an hour per day.
