Cedar Bluff VirginiaAcadia: Clinch Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center Review

For over 10 years, Clinch Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center has provided Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addicts in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Cedar Bluff is a small town in Tazewell County in the Western region of the state, and the facility is located a short distance from Southwest Virginia Community College.

Clinch Valley CTC treats clients struggling with opioid addiction by prescribing Subutex and methadone and requires clients to participate in group and individual therapy while receiving MAT. Clinch Valley CTC is a member of the Acadia treatment network, which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout the United States and United Kingdom.

Treatment and Staff

After clients are assessed, they and the treatment team decide which course of MAT they’re best-suited for: methadone or Subutex. Clients then receive a dosing schedule which includes a plan for applying for take-home doses once they have successfully participated in several weeks of treatment.

During their first year of treatment, clients must attend group and individual therapy at least twice a month. During their second year of treatment, they must attend therapy at least once a month. Therapy is optional during the third year of treatment and beyond.

Clinch Valley CTC’s treatment team is made up of physicians, nurses and CSACs. Counselors use CBT in group therapy to explore topics which include relationship skills, handling triggers and relapse prevention. Counselors address co-occurring disorders in individual and group sessions but refer clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support to nearby mental health clinics. The center encourages clients to attend NA or other peer support meetings in the community and hosts a Celebrate Recovery meeting on-site each week.

Clinch Valley CTC hopes that all of its clients will eventually not need MAT, and it works with them to create a treatment plan that culminates in tapering. However, clients are not pressured to taper on any set time-line.

In Summary

For over a decade, Clinch Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center has provided MAT for opiate addiction to the residents of Southwestern Virginia. The facility is known for its kind and compassionate staff who create a supportive atmosphere while closely supervising the health and progress of all of their clients. Treatment combines medication with evidence-based treatment to help clients recover physically, mentally and emotionally.
