Acadia Asheville Review
Located in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina, is Acadia’s Asheville Comprehensive Treatment Center. This is an outpatient clinic that provides adults with opioid treatment services. These services include Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) along with evidence-based individual and group therapy. It’s worth noting, these programs are available to adults who have struggled for a year or more with opioid addiction. Acadia Asheville, as well as the other facilities within the network, are all CARF accredited and employ expert addiction specialists.
Treatment and Staff
The MAT at the Asheville locations includes Methadone, Subutex and Suboxone. The clinic is open seven days a week between 5 am and 1 pm Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 5:30 to 8:30 am, and Sundays 5:30 to 6 am for medications. After the three to four hour assessment, clients receive their personalized treatment plan. It includes a daily schedule of medication, align with weekly counseling.
Depending on the medication, clients usually begin with a larger dose and eventually step down until they are able to operate without the assistance of the meds. In conjunction with the medications clients attend mandatory weekly individual therapy and group counseling. The individual sessions are about an hour per meeting, and during that time clients discuss any issues that have arisen during treatment, and receive guidance in terms of coping and relapse prevention. Treatment is not based on the 12 steps, however, the staff encourages clients to seek out additional support through AA/NA.
Group sessions occur throughout the week at different times. These groups vary in size and are a mix of men and women. The group sessions are highly structured and supportive. Participants share their experiences with their recovery, and receive advice for coping with cravings, establishing boundaries and improving communication.
Staff of the Asheville facility include medical doctors, nurses and licensed certified addiction counselors.

The Asheville Acadia clinic provides a treatment program that is structured and requires a firm commitment in order to help individuals reach their recovery goals. The personalized treatment programs combine medication and therapy, which has proven to have a high success rate for those trying to free themselves from an opioid dependency. While in these programs, men and women learn coping and life skills that establish a strong foundation for what will hopefully be long-term recovery.
