new beginnings recovery centerNew Beginnings Recovery Center Review

Located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, New Beginnings Recovery Center offers comprehensive care for those suffering from substance abuse and mental health issues. With services including 28-day residential care, Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) and outpatient detox, New Beginnings is equipped to help clients at all stages of addiction. Rooted in evidence-based modalities, recovery focuses more on talk therapy than the 12 steps

Accommodations and Food

Located just minutes from the main New Beginnings campus, the residential program allows clients to live in a comfortable, home-like setting. The facility has 16 beds total with each resident sharing a two-bedroom apartment with three other people. Bedrooms contain two full beds, dressers and carpeting. Each apartment also includes a kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a living room with a 50-inch flat-screen TV and a washer and dryer. There are also outdoor patios with grills and fire pits attached to each apartment. Clients are welcome to smoke outside during break times.

Residents are in charge of preparing meals for themselves and there are weekly group outings to the grocery store. Clients can decide whether they want to cook individually or together as a house.

Each client is given a gym membership that can be used on a daily basis. In addition, residents can do weekend activities like mini-golfing or bowling and take day trips to the movies or the beach.

Treatment and Staff

In addition to traditional evidence-based therapies, New Beginnings uses experiential methods of recovery such as art, music and outdoor sports. Prior to entering any of the programs, clients meet with an intake counselor to create a treatment plan to fit their needs.

The 28-day inpatient program immerses residents in a mixture of group and individual therapy. Clients are able to receive one-on-one counseling once a week, though most of their time is spent doing group work. Modalities such as CBT and DBT are frequently used, with topics including relapse prevention, coping skills, healthy relationships, self-esteem and anger management. Throughout their time in treatment, each resident’s progress is closely monitored by the staff. Nearing the end of the 28 days, clients work to create an aftercare plan.

For those who successfully complete the residential program and wish to continue receiving treatment, IOP is a good option. This program offers group therapy up to five days a week with individual therapy available upon request. Treatment is a blend of addiction education and psychotherapy. Clients learn about family history, defense mechanisms, relapse prevention and the 12 steps. They are also encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings during their free time, though meetings are not mandatory.

As clients gain strength in their sobriety, the number of days in treatment per week can decrease. Eventually, clients taper down to attending treatment only once a week. This schedule continues until both the client and counselors feel enough progress has been made.

Those suffering from opiate addiction can come to the facility for outpatient detox. Clients come for weekly medication including Suboxone and methadone to assist with withdrawal from opiates. The length of this process is determined on a case-to-case basis.

New Beginnings also offers a variety of treatment options for adults suffering from co-occurring disorders.

The staff includes an integrative medicine consultant, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, nurses, Master’s-level therapists and social workers.

Extras

An array of mental health services is offered such as dual diagnosis support for depression, an outpatient psychiatric program and a neurotransmitter repair program. Specialty therapies such as inner child work, visual image therapy, hypnotherapy, nutrition support, laser therapy and muscle relaxation therapy are also available.

After primary care, New Beginnings can place alumni in sober living houses.

In Summary

New Beginnings Recovery Center offers a wide variety of treatment for adults suffering from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Thanks to the individualized nature of the programs, clients are able to receive treatment tailored to their specific needs at a relatively competitive price point. If they are willing to do the work, clients can lay a strong foundation for sobriety through these programs.
