Community Hospitals of Indiana Review
Since the 1950s, Community Hospitals of Indiana, under the umbrella of Community Health Network, has offered comprehensive behavioral health care in several locations throughout Indiana. CHI’s crisis and outpatient services for adolescents and adults address substance abuse and gambling and over-eating addictions in a supportive environment.
Treatment and Staff
After a phone evaluation, clients may be admitted to treatment at the facility, but those who first require a detox program are given a referral. They are responsible for going to detox and are scheduled to begin treatment at CHI after three to five days.
CHI provides an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that runs three days a week, treating addicts and those with co-occurring disorders. Clients attend two-hour group therapy sessions and receive individual counseling. There are specialized groups for adolescents and for women who require trauma-informed care because of a history of domestic violence or abuse.
Treatment at CHI is not 12 step, but rather evidence-based. CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are all used with clients of the IOP program. Groups cover anger management and coping skills and offer dual-diagnosis support. Medication management can be provided at the facility as well if the client’s therapist deems it necessary.
The staff is overseen by a psychiatrist who specializes in addiction and consists of LCSWs, Master’s-level psychologists and LADCs. All staff is trained in dealing with co-occurring conditions.
