Located outside Annapolis in Pasadena, Maryland, Tranquility Woods is a residential substance abuse treatment program catering to professional adults. It follows a holistic approach that includes conventional western medicine, as well as the 12 steps. Providing individualized treatment and a variety of alternative, traditional and integrated modalities, Tranquility Woods focuses on the mind-body-spirit connection to healing.
Accommodations and Food
Set on 23 acres, the Tranquility Woods facility is a 16,000 square foot mansion. Accommodations are luxurious and designed with comfort and healing in mind. Heavily wooded and bordered by creeks on two sides, clients enjoy walking paths that wind through the gorgeous protected woodlands. Each of the 19 clients sleeps comfortably in furnished bedroom with views, while large shared bathrooms include spa tubs. Tranquility Woods, clients benefit from a saltwater pool and spa, massage and acupuncture rooms, a yoga studio, as well as a sauna and fitness facility.
The sweeping great room functions as dining room and meeting space, with giant windows and circular balcony. A chef prepares three healthy meals a day in the large gourmet kitchen, most dietary restrictions and preferences can be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
Individualized treatment plans are created for each client after a comprehensive evaluation. The typical clientele includes physicians, lawyers, CEOs and other executives looking for a luxurious, discreet rehab experience. The recommended length of treatment is 56 days, with a minimum stay of 28 days. Consulting physicians and a certified nutritionist supervise on-site detox, if necessary. Physical, emotional, mental and nutritional recommendations are made, addressing each specific issue. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and holistic therapies are used to ease the symptoms and help provide for a more comfortable experience. Dual diagnosis support is offered on-site as well.
A defining characteristic of this program is that clients get up to seven hours of individual therapy a week. They also attend daily group sessions that employ CBT and DBT and focus on substance use education, coping skills and making healthier lifestyle choices while learning relapse prevention techniques. Trauma-informed care can also be included in programs, with family therapy included as needed.
The team at Tranquility Woods is highly qualified and includes consulting psychiatrists, physicians, Master’s-level counselors and CADCs.
Extras
Treatment at Tranquility Woods may incorporate use of an infrared sauna, colonics and nutritional supplements. The list of integrated therapies includes acupuncture, equine therapy, massage, yoga and chiropractic care.
Outdoors, clients can go golfing, hiking, fishing or boating. They are also escorted on organized sober outings to explore nearby tourist attractions like museums, Baltimore Harbor and professional sporting events.
