Lakeview Center Review
Lakeview Center of Pensacola, Florida is a not-for-profit, CARF accredited network of treatment facilities that offers substance abuse and co-occurring disorder services for adults. Programming includes acute detox, residential and outpatient options. Lakeview provides comprehensive treatment plans rooted evidence-based approaches,in addition to a solid foundation in the 12 steps. Clients can expect a combination of group and individual therapy, vocational training, relapse prevention and psychoeducational classes.
Accommodations and Food
For those who need detox, the first step takes place on the Lakeview main campus in a 10 bed, clinical facility for up to five days. Following that step, clients move onto The Friary campus, a former site for retired Franciscan monks, located just off the Pensacola Bay in Gulf Breeze. The sprawling campus has 16 beds for men and women who sleep in double occupancy bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.
The campus has bay views and Old Pensacola charm with the grounds containing oak trees covered in Spanish moss and azalea bushes, and clients have several places available for quiet meditation or taking evening strolls in between activities and groups.
There is a kitchen and dining room where all meals are served. A chef prepares the food daily with fresh ingredients and creates delicious and well balanced options.
Treatment and Staff
On average clients stay at The Friary for 58 days, though its common for people to stay between 23 and 60. Upon arrival clients have a full assessment that includes mental and physical health. There are medication management services and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) options with the help of Suboxone. Every client has a tailored treatment plan, and on a daily basis clients attend group therapy, go to AA/NA meetings, see a therapist one on one and have ample personal and leisure time.
A component of treatment is based in trauma-informed care along with holistic methods and evidence-based practices. This includes Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), CBT, and experiential therapies. In addition, the program folds mindfulness practices and exercises into treatment regularly. Treatment also focuses on chronic relapse prevention, life and coping skills, offers gender specific programming and co-dependency issues. Clients have regular visits with the staff physician and are put on a wellness plan.
Staff include LMHCs, LCSWs, nurses, certified addictionologists, psychiatrists, Master’s-level therapists and a therapy dog named Pinkerton.
Extras
The Friary Campus has a fitness center and fundamental yoga classes. There is an alumni program that meets once a month to organize events and assist newer clients acclimate to their treatment.

There is a lot of space for personal attention during this program, and clients have time to focus on themselves while beginning the journey into recovery.
