Just One Recovery Review
Just One Recovery, a faith based residential treatment facility located in Orange, California, provides men’s individualized addiction and dual diagnosis treatment using the 12-step philosophy and holistic approaches. During the 30, 60 or 90 day programs, clients receive individual therapy, group counseling, relapse prevention training and psychoeducation, with the intention of uncovering the underlying source of their substance abuse and working from there to begin the healing process.
Accommodations and Food
Up to five clients reside in a one-story house that offers all the comforts of home. The bedrooms are all double occupancy and each room is furnished double beds and dressers, some with french doors that open into the backyard where the swimming pool is. There is a living room that connects to the dining room, and a kitchen with fairly new appliances. An in-house chef prepares made to order meals. There is a TV in the house with cable and Internet, and clients are allowed to have their personal devices with them in order to stay in touch with family members.
Treatment and Staff
Residents are evaluated several times throughout their treatment and programming is customized to their needs. The days are structured with therapy, exercise, meditation, relaxation and Bible study. Though Just One Recovery is a Christian treatment facility, clients of all denominations are welcome to receive their services. Each individual works closely with their assigned therapist on all aspects of treatment, and as they progress through the program, an aftercare plan is designed, which in some cases results in clients stepping down to an outpatient program.
There are several different elements to treatment at Just One. Therapeutic methods include CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) art and music therapy, relapse prevention and trauma resolution. Clients also attend AA meetings on a daily basis. A big part of treatment is client digging in to discover what lead to their addiction in the first place and start to work backwards from there. There is also an in-depth co-occurring disorder treatment that provides medication management services.
The staff of about 20 is headed up by James Staggs, or Jamie, who is the Just One Recovery’s founder and a CADC. Additionally, there are consulting psychiatrists, medical doctors and LCSWs.
Extras
Clients go to a local gym Monday through Friday, and also have yoga classes at the residence. Acupuncture and massage are added amenities. There are frequent recreational outings, like trips to the local beach, baseball, basketball and other sports, hiking trips and rock climbing excursions. There are family programs and counseling services offered.
In Summary
Just One Recovery treats its clients with the utmost respect and with a sense of openness and warmth. Though this is a rehab that is highly structured with rules, clients aren’t made to feel like they don’t have a say in their treatment, because they do. The staff, a majority of which are sober themselves, are respectful and caring. The result is happy clients who leave treatment with a renewed sense of purpose.
