Hamilton-Madison House Review
Hamilton-Madison House was established in 1898 as a settlement house for low-income community members and has since grown into a non-profit organization offering a range of social and health services. Located in New York City, the behavioral health program at HMH offers outpatient substance abuse treatment services.
Treatment and Staff
The chemical dependency services at Hamilton-Madison House offer a multi-field approach to ensure a solid and well-rounded foundation for recovery. Every client is assessed to determine his or her individualized treatment plan which determines type of therapy, frequency and duration. All clients are required to attend a daily 12-step group in addition to at least one CBT-based group session. Group topics include harm reduction, relapse prevention, skill building and addiction education. Clients are also typically scheduled for at least one individual therapy session per week. Hamilton-Madison House may also integrate a holistic approach into treatment which may include mindfulness training, meditation sessions and referrals for yoga or acupuncture sessions. The length of the program is different for every client and may change depending on their progress, but is typically anywhere from 30 to 90 days.
The staff at Hamilton-Madison House consists of CADCs, LCSWs and LPCs.
Extras
In addition to the comprehensive outpatient treatment program, Hamilton-Madison House also offers a variety of other programs and services to clients and the broader community. Mental health counseling, a senior center, youth development programs, early childhood programs and a family care center are all available.
In Summary
Hamilton-Madison House provides individualized outpatient programs which aim to treat all aspects of the individual—not just their addiction. By integrating CBT, the 12-steps and holistic approaches, AHRC has created a well-rounded and supportive environment for individuals to heal and recover.
