Northeast Arkansas Regional Recovery Center Review
Located about an hour northwest of Memphis, Tennessee, the Northeast Arkansas Regional Recovery Center has a lifespan almost as long as its name. For over 25 years, the NEARRC (as it is officially abbreviated) has operated as a 12-step based, substance abuse treatment facility, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Under the direction of community action agency Crowley’s Ridge Development Council, the facility offers residential and outpatient services for adult men and women, an outpatient program for adolescents of both sexes, as well a sober living program for adult men.
Accommodations and Food
The NEARRC treatment center is similar to a hospital, with gender-specific bedrooms are arranged on each side of a long hallway. Each client shares their room with one other. Each room offers two twin beds, its own en-suite bathroom, a shared dresser and closet. All meals are included in the cost of stay and provided cafeteria-style for the clients.
Treatment and Staff
NEARRC clients may get up to six weeks of treatment depending on their need. A stay may begin with a medically-monitored observational detox to assess clients’ vital signs for a few days. After an individual moves into their treatment room, and start to attend classes throughout their days and take part in group therapy and AA/NA meetings. They have an individual session with an assigned counselor at least once a week and may also take part in family counseling.
Outpatient NEARRC programs are completely individualized, offering treatment five days a week—Mondays through Fridays. The curriculum of each program focuses on the clients, utilizing gender or age-specific approaches in treatment. Clients may have access to professional, vocational or educational support, depending on need.
NEARC employs several LCSWs, a clinical supervisor, LDACs, as well as two counselors in training and a regional detox specialist.
Extras
NEARRC’s sober living option can be found at its Chemical Free Living Center which allows stays of six or more months and provides adult males with a supportive sober environment without a treatment component.
