Arise Counseling Services, LLC Review
Arise Counseling Services, LLC was founded 2011 in Union, New Jersey, a township in the eastern part of the state. The facility offers outpatient counseling services for adult residents in the Union County area.
Treatment and Staff
The intake process at Arise begins with an initial phone assessment with a counselor followed by an in-person meeting to discuss the client’s potential treatment plan. If the counselor believes the client is in need of a higher level of service, he or she is referred to an outside residential or detox program.
The outpatient program lasts for six months and consists of one to two group meetings a week as well as one individual session a week. The amount of meetings per week is dependent on the counselor’s assessment of the client’s needs. The group sizes are relatively small and generally consist of five to seven clients and a counselor.
The groups focus largely on sharing and encouraging clients to discuss their feelings. Counselors also use a variety of treatment methods in the groups including CBT, relapse prevention and education. Although the program itself is co-ed and services men and women, the groups are separated by gender which allows counselors to focus on more gender-specific issues. Arise also randomly requires clients to provide urine samples throughout their time in the program.
The counselors also cover the basics of the 12 steps in the groups but do not use them in the program. Clients are encouraged to attend outside AA and NA meetings while at Arise.
Arise is not equipped to treat dual diagnosis but does refer clients with co-occurring disorders to outside mental health counselors or facilities.
Arise’s counselors are all LADCs.
Extras
Arise offers family groups based on the needs and consent of the client. These groups consist of the client, counselor and client’s family members. Counselors focus on addiction and co-dependency issues in these meetings.
The outpatient track also offers an aftercare program which is based on the intensity of the client’s treatment in the outpatient program. For example, if a client was attending the program twice a week, he or she will now attend aftercare groups twice a month. These groups are generally small and focus largely on relapse prevention. Clients are required to continue providing random urine samples during this time.

The small group sizes provide clients with the opportunity to receive a high level of individualized attention and focus from the counselors. Also, Arise’s strong focus on relapse prevention and its aftercare program provide clients with the tools and knowledge to successfully transition into their new life in sobriety.
