Greater Reality Recovery Review
Greater Reality Recovery is a sober living home in Dallas, Texas that provides cutting-edge treatment and residence for men in recovery. Understanding that the first year of recovery can be difficult, GRR residents are immersed in a sober lifestyle while therapeutically addressing deep-seated issues to increase the possibility of long-term recovery.
Accommodations and Amenities
GRR provides clients with a completely updated and modernly furnished home in which to further their sobriety. Four shared suites with two or three twin beds provide plenty of space for up to 10 residents. Bedrooms have walk-in closets with enough storage to keep belongings and a private bathroom with double sinks, a bathtub and shower. Linens—sheets, comforters and towels—are provided and a laundry room with washer and dryer allows residents to do their laundry on the property and at no extra cost.
Residents can socialize and unwind after work and meetings in living room, which has plush comfortable couches, a fireplace and flat screen TV. Connected to the kitchen is a breakfast nook as well as office space with a communal computer and Wi-Fi for work on resumes and job searches. The kitchen offers a breakfast bar, appliances and utensils and materials for food preparation. Plenty of space is available for residents to store their groceries.
Rules and Regulations
Clients are either phasing out of inpatient treatment or have a minimum of 30 days of continuous recovery. GRR’s “four phase” sober living program gradually reintroduces residents to an independent life. Staff provide optional one-on-one sober coaching, family services and on-site toxicology processing.
Passing a toxicology test is part of the admission process, but management will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis. Clients who are currently taking Suboxone, Adderall, diet pills or any other mood- or mind-altering drugs will not be admitted. Residents must commit to a 30-day stay but a stay of at least 90 days is recommended.
Participation in 12-step programs is required, including working with a sponsor or sober coach. Residents must attend at least four AA/NA meetings, one recovery coach meeting and an all-house meeting per week. GRR understands that relapse can be a part of the recovery process, but it will result in discharge and forfeiture of rent.
A code of ethics cements house unity and repeated violations result in consequences including expulsion from the house. No sexual activity of any kind is allowed on the GRR property. No visitors of the opposite sex are allowed to stay on the property except to drop off and pick up residents (the same applies for clients who identify with other sexual orientations).
