Accommodations and Food
Up to 46 men and women reside in the expansive facility made up of gender-specific halls, each with separate sitting areas. Semi-private bedrooms are furnished with twin beds, closets, bedding and all linens with adjoining bathrooms that have tubs and showers. Common areas have sofas and a fireplace, designed to create an inviting atmosphere.
All meals, which are served at set times in the dining room, are included in the program and dietary restrictions can usually be accommodated upon request.
Treatment and Staff
Residential programs range from 30 to 90 days. Clients requiring detox can begin with medically-monitored care for three to five days; during which, staff administer safe and appropriate medications to make clients as comfortable as possible. Those with co-occurring disorders are given additional psychological support and medication management.
Clients have group and individual therapy several times a week, with some co-ed groups and others gender-specific. Treatment employs various therapeutic approaches like DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Specialized sessions for clients with PTSD, trauma and mood disorders is also available. Relapse prevention and life skills training are incorporated to prepare clients for independent living. In addition, residents have the options to participate in activities like group sports, games and outings. Clients are transported to regular 12-step meetings off-site, as well as all medical and legal appointments.
The staff includes physicians, CADCs, LPCs, LCSWs and residential staff that are available 24 hours a day.

Aftercare is available in the form of ongoing weekly groups.
Sober living is offered at the Villas at Fair Oaks in Sacramento. These two-bedroom, four-bed, gender-specific apartments provide a safe and structured residence where clients live while they continue treatment through Valley Recovery Center’s Partial Hospitalization (PHP) or Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). Clients become more involved in sober support, explore employment opportunities, attend school and incorporate healthy habits into their daily lives.
