Youth Focus Substance Abuse Outpatient Review
Greensboro, North Carolina’s Youth Focus is an adolescent treatment facility that caters to young people with concerns regarding behavioral health or substance abuse issues. It also has an array of other services including emergency housing, foster care, and in-school programming. Youth Focus in a not for profit agency that relies on the generosity of their community to provide comprehensive treatment program and educational options.
The substance abuse track for young people at Youth Focus offers both inpatient and outpatient care that utilizes a treatment plan called The Seven Challenges. Outpatient clients participate in a structured day program. The day program entails group and individual therapy, psychiatric support and continued education.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient track is for junior high and high school aged clients who are dealing with the beginning stages of what could become a lifelong addiction. As with the inpatient program, the outpatient track operates by the guidance of The Seven Challenges. This is an evidence-based program that uses education and motive based protocols to help influence future decisions.
The Seven Challenges is a program that helps adolescents and adults. The adolescent approaches focus on different decision making skills that may affect their futures. During this process clients discuss how they consider the use of drugs and alcohol and what harm it may be causing them. Treatment addresses the underlying issues that may have led to the use of drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism. Clients may learn of past trauma and how to manage anger and other emotions surrounding that event. Other elements of the program include learning how to set healthy boundaries, how to trust, and improving communication.
The Seven Challenges is developmentally appropriate for younger clients and utilizes different written and reading materials in conjunction with counseling sessions.
Youth Focus’s outpatient treatment is led by LPCs, LCSWs, psychiatrists, nurses and educators.
Extras
Throughout the outpatient experience, adolescents in the program have access to transportation to and from the treatment facility.
