Youth Focus Review
Youth Focus is a not-for-profit agency based out of Greensboro, North Carolina. It’s an adolescent treatment facility that provides several services including inpatient and outpatient substance abuse programs, residential mental health care, and school based behavioral health programming.
The substance abuse program operates using an approach known as The Seven Challenges. Along with the therapeutic aspect of the inpatient program, clients also continue their studies through the on-site alternative accredited school. In addition to substance abuse programming, clients receive treatment for significant mental health concerns, such as PTSD, depression, anxiety and various mood disorders.
Accommodations and Food
The inpatient housing through Youth Focus offers 10 beds, with eight being reserved for boys coming from the facility male group home, and two for girls living in the foster program. The residences are comfortable and homelike. There are fully furnished accommodations in each location. House managers prepare all meals.
Treatment and Staff
The inpatient clients attend the structured day program that uses approaches that cater to their particular issues. Within The Seven Challenges there is a technique to treatment known as Mastery Counseling. This approach helps clients address where they are currently and what events led them to their present situation.
Clients learn how to improve their decision making skills, identify their own motivation to make changes, define their own identity, and work on responses to social pressures and expectations. In addition to The Seven Challenges protocols, the treatment team utilizes evidence-based approaches.
In addition to one on one and group therapy, there are materials clients can expect to obtain during their treatment experience. This may entail an activity book, journals, color posters and bi-lingual book.
In conjunction with therapeutic methods clients in the inpatient program at Youth Focus are provided with medication management services and specific dual diagnosis treatment.
The staff at Youth Focus is a combination of licensed mental health professionals, therapists, doctors, nurses, and volunteers.
Extras
While in the inpatient phase of treatment, clients have family counseling if applicable.
In Summary
The main focus for young clients in the inpatient program is to provide them with motivation to make changes that will lead to success down the line. The counseling program is comprehensive. Throughout treatment, clients learn several new life and coping skills while addressing their psychological and addiction problems.
