The Basics
YES Clinics offers outpatient treatment for adults and teens in American Fork, Utah, a small city just north of Provo. YES Clinics opened three years ago and initially focused on mental health treatment. Responding to a need for substance abuse treatment in the area, it created its long-term outpatient programs, which are highly customized to each client. YES also facilitates Empower, a program to treat pornography addiction, as well as counseling to help families learn to love and accept their LGBTQ children.
Treatment and Staff
Both adults and adolescents are asked to commit to at least six months of outpatient treatment, though some stay up to a year. After an assessment, clients are given an individualized treatment plan that includes group therapy, individual therapy and work with an assigned treatment mentor. Most clients have weekly individual therapy and group therapy at least once a week.
The client and their treatment mentors have a daily email, text or phone exchange for the first six months of treatment, in which they discuss short and long-term goals, relationships and recovery issues. A client’s mentor may also encourage seeking additional medical treatment or exploring spiritual practices. Mentors also work with clients to determine if a peer support framework, such as 12-step or Celebrate Recovery meetings, would be beneficial.
Therapy uses CBT and DBT and clients in need of help processing trauma can schedule sessions with an EMDR therapist. Most therapy groups are gender-specific. YES Clinics’ treatment team includes LMHCs and MFTs. While they address co-occurring disorders, YES refers clients in need of dual diagnosis support to nearby mental health clinics.
Extras
Parents of teen clients are required to participate in family therapy at least once a month. YES Clinics’ therapists may even travel to their homes for evening family therapy if they’re unable to attend at the clinic.
YES Clinics offers on-going weekly aftercare groups for both adults and adolescents. It also provides counseling for technology addiction and eating disorders.
