With three locations in central Kentucky, Windows of Discovery is an AODE-licensed facility offering outpatient substance abuse treatment for adults. The program works with the local courts to assist in alternative sentencing for drug and alcohol-related offenses. Although many clients are court-mandated, self-referred individuals are welcome. Windows of Recovery was founded by the late James Deaton, a LCSW and CADC who passed away in 2013.
Treatment and Staff
The programs at Windows of Discovery begin with an initial assessment. Since only basic outpatient level treatment is offered, referrals are provided for those who need detox, inpatient or an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). For those who are a good fit, an individualized treatment plan is devised.
Clients attend a weekly mix of group and individual therapy, which is generally 12-step oriented. The facility offers both gender-specific and co-ed groups with DUI and criminal justice specific sessions, in addition to anger management and relapse prevention tracks. Windows of Discovery is not a dual diagnosis equipped program.
Windows of Recovery offers anger management, domestic violence and parenting classes for those who are court-ordered. It also has a specific program for adolescents and a family program.
While it only offers basic outpatient services, Windows of Recovery is nevertheless a great resource in southern Kentucky. Clients can individualize their program by incorporating a host of specific treatment tracks at any one of three convenient locations. Additionally, for clients seeking court-ordered treatment as an alternative to incarceration, Windows of Recovery is a great option.
