Wilson Smith Recovery Services is a chemical dependency treatment facility that offers a 21-day residential program in Mumbai, India. This program is based on the Minnesota Model and elements of other successful residential programs out of the US and Canada. Wilson Smith’s founder and CEO Roy V. Tellis provides a highly structured program that is private and group based utilizing the 12 steps as well as holistic approaches. Accommodations and Food
The spacious and modern residence provides all the comforts of home in a multi-level, state of the art, new house set on three acres of land that are complete with fruit and vegetable plantations. The entire facility has WiFi and cable, and clients have their own private bedrooms with a queen sized bed. There is shared living room space with couches, and game room with a ping pong and foosball table. Everything is provided for the clients when they get to the facility, so all they need to worry about is a change of clothes and toiletries. Otherwise, linens, laundry and housekeeping are all included.
There are also three meals served a day that are prepared by professional chefs. The food is all healthy and made from the freshest ingredients, and in a variety of styles.
Treatment and Staff
At the initial intake clients have a schedule assessment that includes a psychiatrist and medical intake, and if needed, a detox program that takes place at the local hospital. The first 24 hours at the facility client have one on one sessions with the program director, who puts together a treatment plan, and after that clients have at least two individual sessions per week.
Wilson Smith makes a point to vary the treatment schedule every day. A typical day begins with an early morning wake up for exercise and after breakfast there is meditation and spiritual time. There are 12-step groups and Big Book study, group sessions and personal time that is filled by journaling or personal study. Treatment explores the root of addiction, grief and trauma and psychoeducation.
Prior to graduation clients meet with their counselors to discuss an aftercare plan, which consists of being connected to sponsors and sober mentors within their communities.
Wilson Smith staff are psychiatrists, psychotherapists, LCSW, ICADC, MSW and recovery coaches.
Extras
There is a pool on site at the facility in addition to a fitness room. There are regular workout sessions daily and instructor lead yoga. And added bonus for graduates is that there are free support services open to them. Meaning that if they ever feel a relapse coming on, they are welcome to come to the facility and stay there for a night or two until they feel safe to go home.
