Wilshire Treatment Center in Los Angeles opened its doors in 1994 to provide outpatient detox treatment for those who are struggling with addiction to narcotics. Treatment is provided through Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using Methadone. An introduction to the 12 steps along with counseling services are also included for adults at an affordable rate in an understanding, non-judgemental environment.
Treatment and Staff
Wilshire Treatment Center is located in an inconspicuous business plaza on a busy city street. The initial phase of ambulatory detox is usually about 21 days of consistent daily dosing for clients to stabilize before they can begin a regimen of a take-home dosage. Clients begin with a higher amount of medication and gradually taper down to a smaller dose, and don’t need to be monitored while taking it. The clinic is open from 6 am until 2 pm daily in order to accommodate MAT clients.
Once stabilization occurs, clients can stop in weekly for their medication. Treatment is individualized for every client, and the amount of time the each individual is expected to remain in the program varies greatly depending on the situation. Group and individual therapy is conducted on-site, and there is specialty programming for clients with dual diagnoses and pregnant/postpartum women. Groups cover relapse prevention, anger management and psychoeducation.
Clients must participate in regular NA meetings both on-site and within the community based on recommendations from staff. Treatment also includes evidence-based therapy methods like CBT and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) along with an emphasis on trauma-informed care. Additionally, maintenance medications like Suboxone are prescribed as well, and if needed Naltrexone.
The staff consists of several medical doctors and nurses, along with CADCs and case managers.
Couples and family counseling services are offered for those who need it. There are also aftercare planning services as part of the core program. Many of the staff members speak more than one language, and Spanish programming is available on a daily basis.
Wilshire Treatment Center is a CARF Accredited agency that offers a variety of treatment services for the West LA community. The programs provided at Wilshire Treatment Center aim to take the stigma out of addiction so that those who need help can find the resources to attain a life that is totally drug free.
