The Basics
Based not far west of Newark, in Morris Plains, New Jersey, The Willow Tree Center is an outpatient behavioral health facility that offers flexible treatment plans to clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Therapy plans are available to individuals and families, teens and adults alike.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning therapy, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Though detox is not available on site, those in need can get referrals to nearby facilities as necessary. Both outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are available through The Willow Tree Center. Though the latter is more flexible and ranges from one to eight hours a week of therapy, IOP typically consists of nine to 12 hours a week for eight to 12 weeks.
In both of the above, plans feature individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Dual diagnosis support is also available as necessary. The curriculum also includes 12-step teachings and can connect participants with off-site peer support groups as necessary. Groups cover a range of topics including addiction education, life skills and relapse prevention techniques.
The staff at The Willow Tree Center consists of LPCs, CADCs, RNs, counselor interns and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Other services include anti-bullying programs, standalone mental health counseling, family therapy, intervention planning and smoking cessation programs. Those who finish primary care can also work with staff members on developing stepped down aftercare plans.
