The Basics
Willow Springs Recovery’s outpatient treatment program in Bastrop, Texas (not far outside Austin), is an ideal step-down for adults who have recently been discharged from an intensive residential program. The outpatient tracks at Willow Springs include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). There is 12-step for those who desire it along with non-AA/NA approaches. There are also regular individual and group sessions, psychoeducation, tracks for dual diagnosis clients and a focus on overall physical health and wellness.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient treatment program at Willow Springs offers a lot of what the residential track offers in terms of holistic methods and alternative healing services, especially for clients who are in the full time day program. This program is the most intensive level of care for outpatient clients. There is a daily check in time and clients stay at the facility for the entire day. The PHP is a three day a week program that requires between four and six hours of treatment for those days. The IOP is also three days a week for a couple of hours at a time.
These outpatient tracks include a variety of treatment options including ambulatory detox services, relapse prevention, substance abuse education, stress reduction techniques and medication, just to name a few. There are also a number of recovery-friendly activities like yoga, exercise and a focus on nutrition and diet. In addition, those in the day programs are able to enjoy the sprawling facility grounds.
Clients have a choice in their treatment programs, so some may opt for a more faith based approach or SMART Recovery. Daily group therapy addresses past traumas and implements CBT techniques. Additionally, clients work on identifying triggers, improving their communication and getting a hold on their anxiety or depression.
Staff at Willow Springs Recovery includes a medical and clinical director, RNs, Master’s-level LPCs, LCDCs and LMFTs.
Extras
Aftercare consists of regular peer support meetings such as AA or NA.

Willow Springs Recovery has a unique approach to treatment in that it allows the client pick and choose what program style resonates with him or her the most. Since there is not a one size fits all solution to addiction, the staff is well versed in so many different approaches that they are able to accommodate their client’s needs. The program aims to foster an enjoyable experience despite the circumstances that might have led them to treatment.
