Willow Springs Center Review

Located in Reno, Nevada, Willow Springs Center is a behavioral health organization that offers flexible treatment services for children and teens struggling with addiction and related behavioral health disorders. The facility’s primary treatment offering are its psychiatric residential programs for adolescents, available to adolescents of all ages.

Accommodations and Food

All told, the Willow Springs Center has 116 beds available in dormitory-style housing with twin beds and rooms shared between two to three other residents. The rooms themselves have beds, nightstands, desks, storage space and basic decorations. Though the facility is relatively clinical throughout, other rooms include shared common spaces, a playground, a gym, outdoor walking areas and an on-site cafeteria. Throughout their stay, all residents are served three meals a day plus snacks.

Treatment and Staff

Upon enrolling, all participants go through an intake which includes a bio-psycho-social assessment to help the staff determine their needs and treatment history. As a fully functioning psychiatric and medical program, those in need of detox or medical stabilization services can receive them on-site before continuing on to treatment.

Once stabilized, residents work with an assigned psychiatrist from the beginning of treatment to the end, each with an individualized care plan. Treatment includes both individual and group therapy with evidence-based practices such as DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Trauma-informed care, play therapy and dual diagnosis support are both available as well, along with medication management whenever necessary. Groups cover many different issues such as trigger identification, relapse prevention, coping skills, social skills, psychoeducation and more. Participants are also strongly encouraged to work a 12-step program whenever applicable.

The staff at Willow Springs Center consists of doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, LMFTs, LCSWs, life coaches and other Master’s-level counselors.

Extras

The organization also provides more flexible outpatient treatment services as well. Special programs for military families and younger children are also offered, with transportation services for clients also available. Video counseling services are provided for anyone who can’t make it to the clinic in person. The residential facility also has a ROPES Course on-site as well. Finally, those who complete a primary care plan can work with staff to develop step-down aftercare plans whenever necessary.

In Summary

Overall, Willow Springs Center is a well-rounded, specifically-targeted program that offers comprehensive treatment for children and adolescents dealing with behavioral health issues. All care plans are individualized and include evidence-based counseling, 12-step support, psychiatric oversight and medication management. Though the costs of treatment are likely to vary depending on insurance and length of stay, Willow Springs Center’s residential programs are a strong and relatively unique option for those in the area.
