The Basics

Based out of Reno, Nevada, Willow Springs Center is a well-rounded behavioral health facility with flexible treatment services for children and teens dealing with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The organization’s flagship programs are its specially designed residential treatment options for adolescents, many of which focus on issues unique to being that age. For those seeking more flexible care, however, the facility also runs its own outpatient clinic.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, all participants go through an initial bio-psycho-social assessment process so that the staff can determine their needs. While detox isn’t included in outpatient care, the residential program does have physicians and psychiatrists on staff to help stabilize residents whenever necessary.

While each program is individualized, participants can expect to attend both individual and group therapy with a range of evidence-based treatment practices including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trauma-informed care. Generally speaking, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) meet for 12 hours a week. Groups cover many different topics including social skills, trigger identification, relapse prevention, emotional processing and coping skills. As mentioned, dual diagnosis support along with medication management can be worked into these programs whenever necessary. All clients are also strongly encouraged to work a 12-step program throughout their treatment as well.

The staff at Willow Springs Center consists of doctors, nurses, LCSWs, LMFTs, life coaches and additional Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

Beyond the more structured therapeutic groups mentioned above, clients also attend holistic groups, which include activities such as art therapy, exercise, relaxation time and community outings. Special programs are available for military families and younger children as well.

Transportation services for getting clients to and from treatment are available to those who need them. Other special services include audio and video conferencing for those who can’t make it to the clinic in person.

Once participants complete one of the above primary care options, they can also work with the staff to develop step-down aftercare plans whenever necessary.

In Summary

In all, Willow Springs Center is a specialized treatment option that offers flexible and individualized services to children and teens. All programs include 12-step support and evidence-based counseling, along with group sessions dedicated to facing the challenges unique to adolescence. Though the cost of treatment may vary depending on each family’s insurance, Willow Springs Center’s outpatient options remain a strong resource for clients in the area.
