Willingway Treatment Center is a nationally recognized treatment program that has been providing substance abuse treatment for over 45 years. Located in Statesboro, Georgia about an hour outside of Savannah, Willingway offers a variety of treatment options for men, women and adolescents including residential, outpatient and detox programs with options for long-term treatment.

Founded in 1971 by Dr. John and Dot Mooney, the couple married their personal experience in recovery with professional expertise as a surgeon and a nurse and renovated their own home to share hope with those struggling with substance abuse. Willingway is currently operated by the founders’ four children who maintain this private and family-owned hospital on an 11-acre wooded campus.

Food and Accommodations

Clients enrolled in Willingway Treatment Center’s inpatient program are each provided a private bedroom and bath. Rooms are furnished with a desks and dressers with ample space for personal items. There are several common living areas inside as well as outside recreation areas. Meals are served in the dining room three times a day with daily menu changes. On-site laundry services are provided.

Men in the long-term treatment program are accommodated in apartment-style complexes about a mile away from Willingway’s main treatment facility. Women in the long-term program stay in a two-story home in downtown Statesboro.

Treatment and Staff

Willingway offers medically managed detox services prior to enrollment. After detox, clients are interviewed and evaluated to determine the level of care needed. The evaluation is also used to help counselors develop an individualized treatment plans.

The outpatient program is intended for those who need a lower level of intensity. Group therapy is scheduled on evenings throughout the week so clients can maintain their normal work, family and life schedules. Individual sessions are scheduled independently as-needed.

The inpatient and long-term programs include daily group and individual sessions as well as educational seminars. All staff utilize CBT methodology. The 12 steps are not integrated into the program, but clients may be referred to local meetings if requested.

The staff at WTC consists of LPCs, CADCs and LCSWs.

Extras

In addition to the comprehensive inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, WTC also offers family and professional programs as well as collegiate recovery support. The family programs include educational workshops, a family week which gives clients and their loved ones the opportunity to develop a peer-support network and referral services. The professionals program is an individualized treatment program for therapists, pharmacists, pilots, medical practitioners, attorneys and executives seeking care while maintaining their credentials and status in their field. Support for those at Georgia Southern University seeking treatment may opt for the collegiate recovery track.

All clients who complete treatment at Willingway are given a comprehensive continuing care plan which keeps them connected to their recovery community and the professionals who helped them pave the way to total wellness. Aftercare is also individualized.
