The Basics
Whitestation Sober Houses provides well-structured sober living to men transitioning out of residential treatment. The organization has two homes located in a friendly neighborhood in Memphis, Tennessee that is close to recovery meetings, public transportation and off-site Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).
Accommodations and Amenities
Residents at Whitestation have the option of staying in one of two homes. Both have a residential house manager who lives on-site and provides 24-hour support. Each home is very spacious and comes with a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, Wi-Fi and cable TV.
One of the residences is a lovely one-story house with a brick façade that accommodates eight men in four bedrooms. Each bedroom hosts two clients each, in twin-sized beds, and has a ceiling fan, plenty of closet and drawer space, new mattresses and hardwood floors. There are two bathrooms as well, each with a tub and shower. There’s plenty of lawn space in the backyard, along with a covered patio and a gas grill.
The second home is mostly similar to the first, with four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. It only accommodates seven because one of the rooms is a private bedroom.
Independence and discipline are two important qualities taught at Whitestation. As a result, clients learn to be responsible by completing a range of daily chores. Whitestation does not provide toiletries, linens, towels or food.
Rules and Regulations
Whitestation requires residents to attend 12-step and house meetings on a weekly basis. Clients must also get a sponsor to guide them through their programs. Residents must also agree to random drug testing during their stay. Curfew is enforced at Whitestation along with a strict no-smoking policy. While living in one of the two homes, clients must either be employed, attending school, volunteering or attending an IOP. Though IOP is not offered by Whitestation, residents can attend a nearby facility.
Extras
Whitehouse hosts monthly cookouts and recreational outings. For the cookouts, men from both houses hang out while cooking food on the grill. The outings include activities such as sporting events and bowling.
