Whispering Oaks Lodge Professionals Program Review
Louisiana’s Whispering Oaks Lodge is an addiction treatment center that offers a number of services for adults with substance abuse disorders or a dual diagnosis. In addition to the standard treatment offerings, which include detox, residential, and outpatient, there is also a track specifically for professionals. It is available to medical doctors, therapists, and those who work in the field of addiction, who find themselves struggling with their own chemical dependency issues.
The program includes group and individual therapy, medication management, 12-step support, and evidence-based and holistic protocols. It’s worth noting, there are also sober living options. The professionals track at Whispering Oaks is available to those currently receiving treatment at the facility or those in aftercare. It’s also open to Whispering Oaks alumni, or anyone presently working professionally in the addiction field.
Treatment and Staff
Every client receives a customized care plan once they enter the program. The professionals program is technically outpatient so it meets a few times per week. However, it does integrate a number of activities included in the IOP and inpatient program.
This treatment addresses specific issues that professionals face. For example, programming tackles burnout, financial issues, stress management, relapse prevention and shame resilience. Every week there are two hour-long peer group sessions, and one individual session. Therapeutic approaches are CBT, DBT, EMDR and mindfulness.
Other elements to treatment during the professionals program are financial planning and skill building classes. The latter is pertinent to interpersonal effectiveness within their field. Whispering Oaks Lodge has approval to provide care for employees who are in a monitoring program, and offer updates upon their clients’ completion of the program. They report monitoring on a quarterly basis.
Peer support specialists and clinicians facilitate all treatment.
Extras
Clients in the professional program participate in equine therapy using the Eagala Method, and a canine therapy program.
Finally, there is an aftercare support group that meets once a week. This is open to anyone who completed the initial phases of treatment.
